Other things to take into consideration when choosing micro dermabrasion:

You may require multiple sessions and maintenance treatments. An individualized skin care program may be recommended to maximize results.

How does micro dermabrasion work? Micro dermabrasion is the use of a device that emits tiny crystals across the surface of the skin, mixing gentle abrasion with suction that sucks away the dead skin cells, blackheads and white heads. Each micro dermabrasion treatment may take between 30 minutes to an hour. The number of treatments recommended for maximal results can range between 5 and 12. Treatments are usually spaced from 2 to 3 weeks apart.

Micro dermabrasion may be combined with other skin treatments such as a light chemical peel. A light chemical peel will remove the dead skin cells from the skin's surface layer and re-stimulate the regenerative process. Peels are derived from fruit, vinegar and sugar cane and include glycolic acid, TCA acid, and salicylic acid.

High doses of vitamins including vitamin A can also be added during the treatment to boost the skin renewal cycle. Micro dermabrasion is not a new technique. It was first used in Europe and adopted by United States in the late 1990s. Today, it is used effectively to treat acne and acne prone skin, fine wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars left from mild to moderate acne.
